Checkly's new dashboards, incident management, and the new analytics API
Table of contents

Late last year we announced improvements to our public dashboards that included a revamped dashboard design that allowed users to see monitoring data in a more easily-digestible way, on any device. We improved performance across the board, and also introduced new incident management functionality—available for paid plans only—that allows users to more easily communicate scheduled maintenance notices and alert developers to minor and major incidents.

We’re pleased to announce that all of those features are generally available, and we’ve also added even more capability to our dashboards. We’ve also added a new analytics API that provides even more capability for users looking to connect with third-party reporting, monitoring, graphing, and BI tools.

Dashboard Customization and Personalization

We’ve updated our dashboards to allow users to brand and personalize the look and feel of their dashboards using custom CSS rules and to configure custom subdomains.

For example: If you want to make your monitoring dashboards fit the visual look and feel of your company’s brand, you can personalize the look and feel of your dashboards using custom CSS rules, and then edit and deploy those custom changes via an included CSS editor.

If you wanted a custom domain to go along with that branded dashboard, you can now host your public dashboard under your own custom domain. You’ll just need to add a valid custom domain to your dashboard setting, and then create a CNAME record in your DNS that points to checkly-dashboards.com. Read more about dashboards and incident management in the docs section on the Checkly website.

Built for Speed: Better Performance = Satisfied Stakeholders

Our new dashboards are built on NuxtJS 3 and leverage NuxtJS Universal Rendering capabilities. We host the new dashboard on Vercel, and use the Vercel Domains API to properly handle custom domains. We’ve also removed the need for separate certificate generation and management steps, which is now handled by Vercel. You'll also see improved time to first byte (TTFB) performance, since we removed an extra hop between custom domain IP address resolution and Vercel servers.

New Analytics API

We’ve also developed a new analytics API that gives users more freedom to generate reports for business needs. Users can now integrate Checkly data into third-party business intelligence platforms like Microsoft PowerBI, Google Data Studio, Grafana, and reporting tools like Google Sheets. You can find more detailed information about using our analytics API in the docs section of our website.
